Pakistan

We travel twice a year to Pakistan; mainly to Islamabad, the capital which is in the North, aswell as Karachi, situated in the South, in order to prepare a wide selection of diverse products which are specific to each province.

Often we have to make our way through the crowdy, dusty and winding streets if Rawal-Pindi to discover a craftsman, making it a rule of elaborating a long-term relationship based on trust & equity with our collaborators.

An adventure through pics & videos

At the shop we permanently display on the spot video's taken with our craftsmen & suppliers back in Pakistan. This way you can see wuth you very own eyes for example how textiles undergo 'tie & dye" by a traditional method which seems archaic to us in the West! On the main central screen you can also check out our hundreds of photographs, which show you Pakistan & the Pakistanis in their everyday lives - A COMPLETELY different vision than that which the media tends to offer.

Handicrafts with high standards

Let's face it, Pakistan ISN'T really in the TOP10 places to visit in the world, so we're not a very touristic nation, whereas handicrafts exportation is involved, we still reamin behind India and other counries with higher percentage of production & higher figures. Thus, we are able to find products which are better in quality and handicrafts which are made with alot more passion than you think, avoiding mass production, allowing the artisans to pay more attention to the quality & finishing.Almost all the goodies you will find in our store are hand-made with a lot of attention payed to details.

A little info about Pakistan :

PAkistan, officially known as the Islamic Republic of Pakistan, is an Asian Islamic country surrounded by neighbouring countries such as Iran, Afghanistan, China, India & the Sea of Oman, founded by Mohammad Ali Jinnah on the 14th AUgust 1947.

With a population of over 180 million people in 2009, Pakistan is the sixth most populated country in the world, with the second largest muslim population following Indonesia. It is a part of the NEXT ELEVEN, eleven strong nations with a very high economic potential for the 21st century!

The word Pakistan signifies the country of the pure (in Urdu: Pak meaning pure & Stan meaning country, with an I for the liason).

The landscape in the Northern parts are formed by some of the most highest mountains in the world; (the K-2 being the second highest existing summit on Earth xith its 8611 meters altitude) arid mountains on the Western parts, an inhospitable plateau in the South-west, the Cholistan Desert in the South-east & plains dedicated to agriculture everwhere else.
